HALIFAX, NS - Public Service Superannuation Plan Trustee Inc. (PSSPTI) has published the 2017-2018 Public Service Superannuation Plan (Plan) Annual Report.
The Plan’s Annual Report states that, in fiscal 2017-2018, the Plan achieved a positive rate of return on investments of 5.77 per cent (gross of investment management expenses), generating $343 million in total investment income. The total net assets for the Plan were approximately $6.4 billion and, as of March 31, 2018, the Plan was 103.4 per cent funded.

(PSSPTI) is pleased to announce that Cape Breton Regional Municipality (CBRM) has transferred its defined benefit pension plan into the Public Service Superannuation Plan (PSSP). This transfer resulted in 1157 new members, including 724 active members, being welcomed to the PSSP.

HALIFAX, NS - Public Service Superannuation Plan Trustee Inc. (PSSPTI) is pleased to announce that the Sherbrooke Restoration Commission has transferred its defined benefit pension plan into the Public Service Superannuation Plan (PSSP) effective May 1, 2017.
The transfer was completed pursuant to the Municipal and Other Authorities Pension Plan Transfer Act (MOAPPTA), which came into force in November of 2016. The Sherbrooke Restoration Commission transaction is the first pension plan transfer completed under the MOAPPTA.
In late 2016, Public Service Superannuation Plan Trustee Inc. (Trustee) commissioned a comprehensive review (Review) of the Public Service Superannuation Plan (Plan), as mandated by Section 47 of the Public Service Superannuation Act (Act).
An independent reviewer (Independent Reviewer) was selected by the Trustee following a robust request-for-proposals process. The Independent Reviewer, jointly comprised of Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, Pink Larkin LLP, and Eckler Ltd., has now delivered its written report (Report) to the Trustee.
