As Deputy Minister for the Nova Scotia Department of Justice, Jennifer Glennie leads a multi-disciplinary team, delivering a broad range of programs and services to ensure the rights, safety and access to justice for all Nova Scotians.
Prior to joining the Department of Justice, Jennifer served as Associate Deputy Minister of the Executive Council Office and Acting Clerk to the Executive Council (Cabinet). In this role, she facilitated and supported the development and implementation of government-wide policies and priorities, helping to organize government activities to achieve mandated objectives. Since joining the provincial public service in 2008, Jennifer has also served as Senior Solicitor with the Legal Services Division, Secretary to the Executive Council and Executive Director of Court Services.
Jennifer was a founding member of the Progress Monitoring Committee, representing the Province of Nova Scotia. The Committee provides accountability, monitoring and reporting on progress related to the recommendations of the Final Report of the Mass Casualty Commission. She also serves on the Board of the Nova Scotia Public Superannuation Plan Trustee Inc. and is a member of the Governance Committee for the Lawyers Insurance Association of Nova Scotia (LIANS).
Prior to joining the Government of Nova Scotia, Jennifer helped clients for more than ten years as a lawyer in private practice.
Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from Dalhousie University, and a Bachelor of Arts from King’s College. She was admitted to the Nova Scotia Bar in 1998. Jennifer was born in Cape Breton and lives in Cole Harbour.
